Capt. Ken Deaton of J-Lyn Charters reports from Harbor Beach:

Bass fishing is still the best in years with lots being taken inside the
harbor casting around the weed beds and close to shore North and South
of the harbor.

Walleye continue to be taken off the crawler harness and hot and tots
trolling in 20 to 60 feet of water.  Long lines have been working best.

Steelhead action is good if you find those color lines, try out as far
as 120 feet of water, troll those bright colors for best results back
100 feet off the Offshore Boards.

Salmon fishing continues to be on the slow side, but some are being
taken mixed in while fishing for the Lake Trout

Lake Trout are being taken in 50 to 65 feet of water straight out and
North of the harbor, using spoons or Dodgers with spin and glows fishing
close to the bottom.  Some have also been taken out in the 100 to 110
foot areas.  Try blue, yellow, gold, or green camo colors for best results..

For Perch you might try in closer with minnows.  There are lots of
minnows this year and there have been some reports of some perch being
taken in close, yes, even as close as inside the harbor!  Try the North
wall by the City Marina and the walkway by the beach if you don't have a
boat.  Don't forget to take a kid fishing it's something they will
remember forever!

Walleye, try casting spoons and body baits off the North wall.  Or if you have a boat get out that crawler harness and those hot and tots and try trolling in 20 to 50 feet of water.  Use long lines for best results.

King Salmon fishing continues to be scattered with the high winds that we have been having, but you might want to try in 90 to 175 feet of water, straight out and North of the harbor first thing in the morning and later in the evening.  Try fishing the top 20 to 90 feet of water for best results.  Fish those color lines, the fish have been setting in them.  Best lures are Pro Kings, small and medium size J-Plugs, regular and magnum size Silver Streaks and Dreamweaver lures in Greens, Silver, Blues, Copper, and Black colors with white or glow.  You might want to try some five and 10 color lead (led) lines too.

Lake Trout fishing is scattered as well, try in the 90 to 120 feet of water areas straight out and North of the harbor, try using ghost colored or froggie dodgers with silver or green colored spin and glows and small spoons fished close to the bottom.  Some other colors to try are yellow, white with pink dots, or blue colors.  Regular and mag size clean spoons trolled fast (2.5 mile per hour) have been working well also fishing top to bottom.

Perch fishing is slow but try South of the harbor by the cemetery, and outside the lighthouse as well, fishing the 30 to 40 foot of water areas with minnows.

Bass fishing is still good inside the harbor and close to shore casting or trolling body baits and spinners.

Steelhead fishing picking up, try Straight out and North of the harbor in 70 to 120 feet of water.  Best lures are the Orange, Yellow, or bright Pink Dreamweavers or Silver Streaks.  Don’t fish too deep, they have been coming in the top ten to forty feet of water areas!  Look for those color lines for best results.

Some Walleye continue to be taken South of the harbor as well as straight out of the North gap, and as far North as Grindstone, try trolling a crawler harness with night crawlers or small spoons and hot n tots for best results.  Coral colors, greens, and blues have been working well.  Fish the 40 to 90 foot of water areas, fishing top to bottom.  A slow troll should work best.

Be patient, the wind has switched so fishing should pick back up again now!  Those fish just do not like high wind and storms!
